Chief Rabbi Great Synagogue Sydney, Australia
I was so sad to hear that Chazzan Avraham Hillman has passed away. He was a thrilling Chazan at the bimah. His High Holiday services, Sefirat HaOmer and even a regular Shabbat were always moving, passionate and creative.
He spent much of his week visiting patients in hospital, including my late grandmother.
He was a student of Leib Glanz, and to hear him sing his teacher's Shema Yisrael was a privilege. His davenning was a highlight of my teenage religious development. He was beloved in Manchester and beyond.
He was a true shaliach tzibbur and a tzaddik. Yehi zichro baruch.
